About me

Photo of Sam Clayton at Green Muse Café

An independent web developer and consultant hailing from Austin, Texas, Sam Clayton has been programming since age 5. A former CCNA, he has a background in PHP, Perl, C/C++, JavaScript, ActionScript, and MySQL. He is an open source software advocate and longtime Linux user -- formerly a Slackware guy, but now an Ubuntu convert. He is fascinated by the Drupal community spirit and interested in contributing new and interesting modules. Other interests include music composition and production, gardening, tropical fish, bicycling, cooking, radio control aircraft, and literature.

Vegas, baby

I'm currently in Las Vegas working with the illustrious and industrious Christopher Calicott on two Drupal projects, including site building, theming, custom module development, and deployment.

I'll be taking a trip to Seattle and Vancouver for Thanksgiving for sightseeing and general mayhem.

produktworksdesign.com launched

I'm pleased to announce the launch of the re-designed site of my most recent client, produktworks design. produktworks is a local Austin product design, industrial design, and engineering consultancy.

The work consisted primarily of graphic design and CSS layout, with some jQuery interface elements.

Hosting Spotlight: WebFaction

I recently comparison-shopped for web hosting, and settled on WebFaction. I've had a great customer experience thus far, with features that are hard to find in a budget hosting service, including Python and Ruby support with one-click installers for popular web applications and content management systems like Django, Rails, and Drupal. My account was up within literally minutes of payment, and the DNS transfer from my domain name registrar went through in under a minute.
